How does haggle work?

Postby Hammer on Mon Apr 30, 2007 5:45 pm

Sell a weapon to Weapon BROKER in Tent or House Deneith:
Sale price approx = BASE PRICE * ( 60 + Haggle Skill ) / 400 ... close to 15% plus a little of BASE PRICE

Sell a weapon to General VENDOR in Tent:
Sale price approx = BASE PRICE * ( 40 + Haggle Skill ) / 400 ... close to 10% plus a little of BASE PRICE

CONCLUSIONS:
* Regardless of Haggle, you get 1.5x at Broker relative to Vendor. In other words, you could view broker as +20 to your Haggle.
* Each point of Haggle is worth +0.25% Sale price.
* With Haggle of 20, you will get 20% of Bace Price at BROKER.
* Very important to sell at BROKER versus VENDOR.

Purchasing from BROKER:
Purchase Price is approx = BASE PRICE * (200 - Haggle) / (160)

* Relationship appears linear, based on data points of items with base price ~8000gp and 32,000gp with Haggle skills of 19, 22, 24, 26.

By the way, the guild has some haggle-bots ... characters with EXTREME Haggle scores.

The first 2 to list, with their fully-buffed, absolutely maxed out haggle are:

Pawnshop, 71, that's right, SEVENTY ONE!
Melodiuswine, 70, yes, SEVENTY!

What does this mean? How do we use them?

Let's use an example of how a tank buys Cure Serious Wounds potions.

100 potions, low haggle tank, cost about 80,000 gp.
Wait, there's more to the equation!!!
Tank sells about 800k gp of stuff, to get 80k gp to buy those potions!!!!

BUT ... here's plan B!

Tank mails 800k of stuff to haggle bot, who gets about 240k gp for it ... then buys 400 Cure Serious Potions for the gp, and mails them to tank.

Get that math?!?!?!?!?! Mythrylwine, a dwarf fighter who gave us those numbers, does! He NEVER buys potions of any kind anymore. He just sends items to Melodiuswine, and gets Cure Serious, Haste, Lesser Restore, Cure Disease, Remove Poison, Heroism, etc. potions instead.

Haggle-challenged characters should sell as little as possible to vendors ... and mail to Haggle-bots instead.

if you have a haggle bot, and are willing and able to help guildies in this way, please list your haggle bot and haggle score below, and I'll add them above!

Managed to get CrmsnNemesis' haggle to 73 using 2 gs items-supreme tyrant of positive energy (+6 to CHA skills) and supreme tyrant of air (+6 CHA, +3 exceptional CHA). I will be able to squeeze 1 more haggle out when I finally get a head of good fortune.

Wow ... great work on Crmsnnemesis. That's one of the reasons to raid so much, so that you can get items your character deserves!

:)
