Guys, I have decided I will be rolling a monk, but I won't be playing him the first two weeks, as I try to help open the new content.
Because Monks need a 16 in a stat to use the cool attacks that go with it, I want to have 16 in each of Strength, Dex, Con and Wisdom ... but that's not possible with only a 32 point character!
So, here's the plan ... and an option.
To get more points in those four stats, I want to start with a dwarf. That +2 to con (and -2 to char).
Here's how I would get the stats I want by level 8 for the character:
Start with: .... Add +1 tome: ... Level 4 stat ..... Level 8 stat
Str 14 ............... 15 ............................................ 16
Dex 15 .............. 16 .................................................
Con 18 .............. 19 ..................... 20 ...................... -OR-
.... Con 16 ......... 17 ..................... 18 ......................
Int 8 ........................................................................ -OR-
.... Int 11 ......... 12 ..................................................
Wis 15 .............. 16 ..................................................
Char 6 ..................................................................... -OR-
.... Char 7 .......... 8 ..................................................
Basically, what that table is trying to say, is that either I take con at the start as 19, and never touch Int or Char, or I start con at 17, then add 3 to Int (Skill points!) and 1 to Char and then a +1 tome to both of them. The lower Con lowers concentration by one, also HP by one per lovel, and gives me 2 more skill points per level. It may be worth it.
In the first plan, I use 4 +1 tomes (all in bank at this time), in the second, I use 6.
I know that I can't afford to do this for someone that I don't keep, so my first monk on Thelanis may not get all the tomes.
Also, the first three feats would be:
Skill Focus Concentration, (I may not need this at high level, but at low, it's a must!?)
Discipline (It adds 2 to concentration checks, and thus to starting khi points)
and at level 2, Dodge.
Thoughts?
